FAQ
- What does JAS Organic certification mean?
- JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard) is Japan's national organic certification, equivalent to EU organic in terms of process restrictions — no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilisers. The certification is audited annually by an accredited body.
- Can I use this for baking?
- Yes. The balanced, clean profile of the Organic Matcha makes it well-suited to baking — it holds flavour at moderate temperatures and mixes evenly into batters and doughs. Use 1–2 tsp per recipe depending on desired intensity.
- Is organic matcha nutritionally different from standard ceremonial matcha?
- The organic certification relates to cultivation method, not nutrient content. Both grades are shade-grown and stone-milled, preserving L-theanine, EGCG, and chlorophyll. The key nutritional difference is the absence of synthetic pesticide residues in organic production.
- Does it taste like standard matcha?
- It has a slightly milder, cleaner character than the Everyday Matcha Blend — less assertively grassy, more versatile. Some people prefer it for lattes precisely because it doesn't overpower other flavours.
